I just used this free service to send 2 large-ish files to my sister-in-law (she’s the editor of the Northwestern University Medill Integrated Marketing Communications Journal) (files were cover + internal layout for the 2006 Journal).

Seems to work like a charm. Great free service to send up to 1GB files.
